QAMISHLI, syria/" class="auto-internal-link">syria (North Press) –The syrian/" class="auto-internal-link">syrian Democratic troops (sdf) declared on Wednesday that they had shot down two drones in the eastern countryside of Raqqa, northern Syria, identifying their origin as positions held by Damascus administration factions. In a statement released by the SDF’s media center, the troops stated, “This afternoon, our units downed two drones originating from Damascus administration factions stationed near Ghanem al-Ali village in eastern Raqqa, which has been under repeated attacks for a week. ” The SDF specified that the first drone was a Matrice M30, while the second was an FPV attack drone. After securing the wreckage, technical teams analyzed the memory card retrieved from the Matrice M30.
In fact, the statement noted that the analysis disclosed the drones were operated by foreign militants linked to the Islamic State (ISIS), who were positioned within Damascus government faction sites opposite SDF defense lines. The SDF added, “These findings confirm the involvement of Damascus government factions in cooperating with foreign ISIS elements, enabling them to use their positions for reconnaissance and drone attacks. This allows ISIS to rebuild its capabilities in a more dangerous manner than before. ” The media center published photos and materials it stated documented the threat posed by such connections, stressing that they endanger civilians and undermine regional stability, including ongoing efforts against ISIS.
The SDF called on the U. S. -led Global Coalition to investigate the involvement of foreign ISIS operatives in drone operations along contact lines and to pursue all parties providing technical or logistical backing. The statement warned that ignoring such violations threatens regional security and enables ISIS to reorganize and terrorize communities.
