QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic troops (SDF) rejected on Wednesday media reports claiming that it held meetings with unofficial Lebanese parties last month, describing the information as “false and fabricated” and aimed at misleading public opinion. In a statement, Farhad Shami, Director of the SDF Media Center, rejected what he called a coordinated attempt to circulate inaccurate claims regarding alleged contacts between the SDF, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), and Lebanese figures during November. “Some suspicious media outlets promoted false and fabricated news about alleged meetings between the Syrian Democratic troops and the Autonomous Administration with unofficial Lebanese parties in November,” Shami stated. “This was a clear attempt to mislead public opinion and replace facts with media noise. ” Shami emphasized that the SDF and the AANES maintain a transparent approach to communication and engagement, particularly on matters related to security, stability, and relief concerns.
He stressed that any legitimate contact serving these objectives is conducted openly and within a clear framework. “The SDF and the Autonomous Administration affirm that communication with any party that serves security, stability, and relief issues is a legitimate and public right,” he added, underscoring that such engagement does not occur secretly or outside established channels. The statement comes amid heightened media scrutiny of political and security dynamics in northeast Syria, a region administered by the AANES and secured by the US-backed SDF.
The area has remained relatively stable compared to other parts of the country, with local authorities focusing on governance, counterterrorism efforts, and coordination with international partners. Shami concluded by firmly rejecting what he described as deliberate attempts to fabricate news and distort facts. “This falsification will not create an alternative reality,” he stated, adding that such reporting “reveals the level of professional and political decline of the parties promoting it. ” By Atoun Jan
