QAMISHLI, syria/" class="auto-internal-link">syria (North Press) – The syrian/" class="auto-internal-link">syrian Democratic troops (sdf) declared on Thursday that their Commando troops, in coordination with the US-led Global Coalition, conducted two separate security operations in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, resulting in the capture of multiple ISIS militants. Indeed, as per a statement released by the SDF, the first operation was carried out in the village of Abriha, east of Deir ez-Zor, where a joint SDF–Coalition unit targeted an ISIS cell member involved in attacks against SDF forces and civilians. The suspect was captured, and a quantity of weapons and ammunition was seized during the raid, as per the statement.
The second operation took place in the nearby village of Sabha, in the same area, leading to the dismantling of another ISIS cell and the capture of two of its members. The detainees were reportedly responsible for organizing and executing terrorist attacks in the region. The SDF reaffirmed its ongoing coordination with the Global Coalition to combat ISIS sleeper cells, dismantle their financial and ideological networks, and ensure lasting security and stability in northeastern Syria.
Despite the territorial defeat of ISIS in 2019, remnants of the group remain active in areas of Deir ez-Zor, often carrying out hit-and-run attacks against SDF forces, local security personnel, and civilians.
