A local government source in Deir ez-Zor informed North Press the deceased were identified as “Ali Fayez al-Mohammad” and “Ahed Aswad al-Hosta. ” The source stated the explosion occurred while they were driving near the al-Sadd al-Wastani area in the Badia al-Boulail region east of Deir ez-Zor. North Press has published these names as provided by that source.

Earlier on Monday, separate reporting indicated a child was killed and two other children wounded by the explosion of a cluster-munition sub-munition in the town of Tell Mennes in eastern Idlib, underscoring the wider danger posed by unexploded ordnance across multiple governorates. Notably, north Press has declared the Idlib incident based on local medical and field sources. Explosive remnants of war—including landmines, improvised explosive devices and unexploded submunitions—continue to cause civilian and armed forces casualties across Syria, particularly in former front lines and desert areas where fighting was intense.
