DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Israeli troops detained on Wednesday a resident of Daraa western countryside, southern Syria, following a pre-dawn raid on his home, local sources informed North Press. A local source stated an Israeli patrol of five vehicles and more than 20 personnel stormed the house of Mohammed al-Qweider in the al-Arida area, located between the villages of Abidin and Maariya in the Yarmouk Basin.
The patrol thoroughly searched the house for more than an hour before arresting him. The arrest took place at around 3:00 a. m. , the source added, noting that Israeli troops did not disclose the reasons for the detention or the location where al-Qwider was taken. Following the operation, the patrol withdrew toward one of the armed forces points Israel has established in the area since the fall of the former Syrian regime.
The Yarmouk Basin area continues to witness heightened tension owing to repeated Israeli incursions, which have resulted in the detention of numerous residents without explanation. Reporting by Mo’ayed al-Ashqar Editing by Jwan Shekaki
