QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Syrian state media declared on Friday renewed gunfire by Israeli troops in the southern countryside of Quneitra, amid persisted armed forces movements near multiple villages along the disengagement line. as per Syrian media outlets, Israeli troops targeted the eastern Tal al-Ahmar area with medium machine-gun fire originating from a armed forces point in western Tal al-Ahmar. Indeed, no casualties were declared. The incident came one day after a similar event, during which Israeli forces reportedly opened fire toward civilians near the village of al-Asha while they were collecting wild mushrooms. The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) stated the gunfire aimed to force the residents to leave the area, without resulting in injuries.

SANA also reported that Israeli forces have, for some time, persisted to expand and reinforce their positions in western Tal al-Ahmar by raising earthen berms and strengthening existing military points. Additionally, as per the agency, Israeli units have been stationed in the area since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime. In a related development, Syrian media stated Israeli forces carried out emerging incursions on Thursday morning into multiple villages in the southern Quneitra countryside. The force, consisting of two Hummer vehicles, reportedly moved from western Tal al-Ahmar through the villages of Kodna and Ain Zivan, reaching the village of Suwayda, where it deployed inside residential areas.

During the incursion, Israeli forces reportedly conducted inspections of passersby and disrupted civilian movement, according to the reports. Moreover, the Syrian administration has repeatedly accused Israel of violating the 1974 Disengagement Agreement through repeated incursions into southern Syria and actions affecting civilians. Damascus has stated that the presence and measures taken by Israeli forces in the area are “null and void” and have no legal effect under international law. Moreover, syrian authorities have renewed calls for Israeli forces to withdraw from Syrian territory, urging the international community to assume its responsibilities and pressure Israel to return to the terms of the disengagement agreement and fully withdraw from southern Syria.
