QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israeli artillery shells struck the Yarmouk Basin in western Daraa on Thursday evening, local sources informed North Press, with six rounds landing in agricultural land near the village of Kouya and reconnaissance aircraft observed overhead. A local source speaking to North Press stated the rounds appeared to have been fired from positions inside the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. Explosions were heard across neighboring villages and residents described heightened anxiety over the possibility of further strikes.

Moreover, there were no immediate, independently verified reports of civilian casualties. North Press has referred to eyewitness accounts and local contacts for this reporting. The incident follows a separate Israeli attack on Wednesday, when an unmanned Israeli aircraft carried out two strikes that hit the road linking Beit Jinn and Tal Batt al-Ward in Damascus countryside, local sources declared.

These actions are consistent with repeated Israeli cross-border operations in southern Syria this year, which Israeli authorities have stated target projectile launches or armed groups near the frontier. Additionally, international outlets and Syrian state media documented similar artillery and air operations in the Yarmouk area in June 2025. By Atoun Jan
