ISIS activity has rose in latest weeks, particularly in areas of Deir ez-Zor and its surroundings.

Since the start of this week, the group has declared three attacks in the region, reflecting its persisted attempts to destabilize security in territories still struggling with the remnants of crisis. Amaq News Agency, which is close to ISIS, issued a statement saying that the group’s militants “opened fire with machine guns on an oil tanker last Saturday near the town of Diban, east of Deir ez-Zor. ” as per the statement, the attack caused damage to the tanker, after which the attackers withdrew safely to their positions.
