📰 Forces in Syria threaten northern Israel, including Golan Heights – Katz  

damascus, syria/" class="auto-internal-link">syria (North Press) – Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated on Wednesday night that Israel is not on a path toward peace with Syria. He stated that Israel is considering the possibility of an attack on its northern front as part of efforts to defend its borders.

The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation quoted Katz as saying that Israel is not heading toward peace with Syria due to the presence of troops within syrian territory that are contemplating a ground incursion into population centers in the Golan Heights. Katz added that the Houthis are among the factions operating in Syria and are viewed as a potential threat capable of launching a ground attack on northern Israel—an assessment that Israel factors into its defense planning.

The Defense Minister also noted that Israel is committed to the protection of the Druze community in Syria, stating that the Israeli army has a ready plan, and if attacks are repeated, they will intervene, including by closing the borders. By Abdulsalam Khoja
