⚔️ SDF thwarts ISIS attack, kills militant in Deir ez-Zor

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic troops (SDF) declared on Saturday that they had thwarted an attack carried out by a cell affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS) in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, resulting in the killing of one attacker and the injury of another. In a statement, the SDF stated that an ISIS cell targeted one of its armed forces vehicles in the village of Takihi in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, while the vehicle was conducting routine security duties aimed at maintaining stability in the region. The statement noted that SDF fighters successfully repelled the attack and responded to the gunmen, leading to direct clashes with the attacking group. as per the SDF, the clashes resulted in the death of one ISIS member and the wounding of another, while the remaining attackers managed to flee the scene.

The statement added that SDF troops seized an RPG launcher with its projectile, as well as a motorcycle used by the militants during the attack. The SDF verified that six ISIS militants, riding motorcycles and armed with machine guns and RPG launchers, participated in the assault. Following the attack, SDF forces immediately launched a wide and targeted security sweep in the area in pursuit of the remaining cell members, who fled while transporting one of their wounded.
