1920 State of Damascus and State of Aleppo formed ( under French mandate ).
1922 Union of Syrian States
1923 Syria a League of Nations Mandate under France to 1944.
1925 State of Syria
1926 Lebanese Republic separated as a mandate.
1932 Syrian Republic
1939 State of Syria
1940 Administration loyal to Vichy France to 1941.
1941 Occupied by British and ( Free ) French troops to 1946.
1941 Syrian Republic
1944 Independence from France declared, 1946 Independence recognized by France.
1958 Part of United Arab Republic to 1961. (

1963 Proposed Arab Socialist Union with Egypt, Iraq and Syria. ( The agreement was not carried out )

1972 Federation of Arab Republics to 1977. ( Egypt, Libya and Syria )
